Develop the department’s strategic direction and review and align the department’s functions with the developed strategic direction eg.
Provide strategic leadership, coaching and mentoring to the DI&SD team to prepare team efforts to achieve SBP policy and strategic goals to digitize the payments landscape.
Review and implement strategies, programs and initiatives to significantly expand access to digital financial services by using new technologies.
Overseeing the development of comprehensive payments and settlement infrastructure in Pakistan in line with international best practices, new and emerging innovative and disruptive technologies.
Oversee the successful implementation of RAAST, Pakistan Rapid Payment System and affiliate/add-on requirements in all phases of the project management life cycle to ensure successful completion. Also, ensure timely completion of similar projects such as large-scale assessment systems and centralized safety management systems.
Identify and implement initiatives to digitize various aspects of the economy, including but not limited to retail and wholesale payments, using innovative and disruptive technologies. Examples of such initiatives include the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), faster payments, the creation of regulatory and technical boxes and innovation offices, Digital / shared KYC, artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques, etc.
Ensure smooth and consistent operation of critical payment infrastructure – RTGS Pakistan – Real Total Settlement System (PRISM) and Instant Payment System (Raast), liquidity management, implementation of settlement mechanisms and procedures including additional settlement addresses and settlement systems. bank settlement issue involved.
